Superdog is a very special honour that recognizes the overall versatility of the Portuguese Water Dog by requiring participation in a variety of events.
To be eligible for Superdog, dogs must be entered and compete in three areas of competition offered, PWDCC Specialty Conformation and K-W All Breed Rally Obedience and Agility.
At the K-W All Breed Trials for Agility and Rally scores will only be considered for:
Agility
Saturday Trial 1
Standard, and Trial 2 JWW (see details in K-W premium and on our dog registration page for entry)
Rally
Monday Trial 1
Novice A & B, Intermediate, Advanced A & B, Excellent A & B, Masters
(see K-W premium for entry)
The most points a dog can earn in any area of competition is 6
This award will be tabulated on Monday and announced when competition is over.

Points are given in all classes in the Specialty and the Altered classes
1st place 4 points,
2nd place 3 points
3rd place 2 points
4th place 1 point
Best in show gets 6 points total
Award of merit, best of winners, best of opposite sex, select dog, select bitch, winners dog, winners bitch, will receive 5 points total.
Note: A dog with 2 placements will take the points for the higher win. For example, if a dog takes 1st place in his class and then takes winners dog, the dog will be given the points for winners dog only.
Dogs must receive a qualifying score from the judge to earn points for Superdog (minimum 70 score out of 100). The PWD’s with qualifying scores in each of these regular classes will be ranked by score 1st–4th.

Rally Novice A and B
1st place 3 points
2nd place 2 points
3rd place 1 point
4th place 0.5 point
Rally Intermediate
1st place 3 points
2nd place 2 points

A dog completing the RI or any other obedience or rally titles may continue to compete in this class indefinitely and as such, dogs competing in this class are not eligible for the Highest Scoring PWD award
Rally Advanced, Excellent and Masters
1st place 4 points

4th place 1 point
Dogs who qualify but do not place in the highest 1-4 PWD’s will receive 0.5 point.
Dogs with two placements or qualifying scores will take the points of their higher scoring class. Points for two classes are not added together for the final score.
A qualifying score in Rally Advanced and Excellent in the same trial will receive a 0.5 bonus point.
A qualifying score in Rally Advanced, Excellent and Masters in the same trial will receive a 1 point bonus. Any dog who earns this point will not be eligible for the .5 bonus point for a qualifying score in Rally Advanced and Excellent
Highest scoring Portuguese Water Dog in Rally will receive a total of 6 points. In the case of a tie the dog competing at the higher level will receive the 6 points
Dogs must receive a qualifying score from the judge to earn points
towards Superdog.
The PWD’s with qualifying scores in each of these regular classes (Standard and JWW) will be ranked by score 1st–4th.

All Regular Agility class (Standard and JWW)
points for placement are :
1st place 4 points
2nd place 3 points,
3rd place 2points
4th place 1 point
All Select and Veterans Agility classes (Standard and JWW)
points for placement are:
1st place 3 points
2nd place 2 points
3rd place 1 point
4th place 0.5 points
Dogs who qualify but do not place in the highest 1-4 PWD’s will receive 0.5 point.
Dogs with multiple placements or qualifying scores will take the points of their highest scoring class. Points for multiple classes are not added together for the final score.
In Novice or Intermediate a qualifying score in both Standard and JWW in the same trial at any level will receive a .5 point bonus
In Excellent or Masters a qualifying score in both Standard, and JWW in the same trial at any level will receive a 1 bonus point
Highest scoring Portuguese Water Dog in Agility will receive a total of 6 points.
Highest scoring PWD in AGILITY Trial
The highest aggregate score from Standard and JWW will be chosen from the following classes: Novice, Intermediate, Excellent and Masters. Within each level the following classes will be considered: Veterans, Select, Regular.
In the case of a tie, the dog competing in the higher level in this list will win, if two dogs continue to have a tie, the dog having the lowest aggregate time will be awarded the prize.
If more than one day of Agility trials are offered at the All Breed trial, scores will only be considered by the day designated for PWD awards
An additional 1 point bonus will be added to the final total for a dog that earns points and is handled by one person in all 3 areas of competition.
A handler who is injured during an event and cannot continue. Handlers must notify the SD chair at the beginning and end of contest to confirm that one handler has shown the dog in all classes.
The maximum Superdog points any dog can receive in each area of competition are 6. All bonus points except for the single handler bonus will be added to the final tally from placements and qualifying scores up to a maximum of six points per venue.
When two or more days of performance events are offered, the highest total score will only be considered by the day designated for PWD awards.
In case of a points tie, the dog that has earned points in the most venues will take precedence over all other dogs.
If dogs are still tied, the points from every placement each dog has received will be examined by the Superdog Committee to break the tie.
